What is Love?
By Catarina Kock
What is love? Is it an emotion? A feeling or perhaps a thought? My answer would be that it's almost like a mixture of all of these together. Love from a woman's view is prioritizing someone else’s well-being or even your happiness above your own. Feelings like attachment, affection, respect, admiration and taking care of that person.
What I always say; Love is something that you can't explain it's rather something you show through your actions to your loved one.
There's different types of LOVE
*Significant other - Pragma • Eros • Ludus
Pragma is Enduring Love - Work together with your partner.
Eros is Romantic Love - Set aside time for you and your partner.
Ludus is Playful Love - Keep your love exciting with humor and flirting.
Mania is Obsessive love towards a partner.
*Family - Storge • Agape • Philia
Storge is Familiar Love - Offer unconditional love and forgiveness.
Agape is Selfless Love - Sometimes putting your personal needs second.
Philia is Affectionate Love - Stay open and trust those close to you.
*Friendship - Philia • Storge • Philautia
Philia is Affectionate Love - Stay open and trust those close to you.
Storge is Familiar Love - Offer unconditional love and forgiveness.
Philautia is Self Love - Create friendship that build you up.
Seven billion people on earth and we all feel and experience love differently.
But wait what defines Love?
What defines Love is being deeply committed and connected to someone or something. The "normal" definition of Love is able to feel more than just liking someone. Love means knowing that no matter what, you have someone to count on. It's unconditional and makes you feel good on the inside. You can trust the person you love and are comfortable around them. It's like your heart tells you that it is good for you.
What the Bible says about Love
Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:3-4
“The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength …Love your neighbor as yourself.” - Mark 12: 29-31
“Live a life of love.” - Ephesians 5:2
What I think about Love
It is this feeling of happiness, being in peace, living, enjoying, getting to know your partner, spending time together, cook together. When you sick your partner helps you out without hesitation. Loving is about building something, creating connection, living with the truth and honesty, telling how you feel on you happiest and saddest days. Love is everything that brings out the best version of ourselves each and everyday. Love is in us …Love is Love!
In the end it doesn’t matter what religion, color or in which continent you live we all Love!
